John S. Klarer, B.A. Economics - has over 15 years experience in the energy industry with particular emphasis in the area of natural gas marketing and trading. Most recently, he served as Vice President for one of the remaining active energy trading organizations where he developed and marketed products that included multi-year natural gas for power swaps, gas-tolling structures, multi-year storage arrangements, and zero cost option structures. As Director of Canadian Operations with a large utility trading organization, he managed the Canadian natural gas trading book which included contracts (physical, financial, and options) in outright, spread, and seasonal positions at the major trading hubs in North America. Prior to that he held positions as a contractor and principal shareholder of a independent natural gas producer. In early days of gas deregulation, John was a co-founder of a gas marketing and production company where he capitalized on the deregulation of natural gas in Canada and the United States to promote exports from Western Canada to Eastern Canada, the U.S. midwest and the New England regions. John began his introduction to the natural gas business with a large independent Canadian producer. In addition to marketing and trading, John also brings to MEML an abundance of experience in gas scheduling, transportation and exchange, transportation optimization, business development, and corporate risk management. In addition, he has a thorough understanding of the regulatory environment in both Canada and the United States. Johns background of working for larger trading organizations is balanced by his experience of having worked with small to medium size production companies to identify and connect new reserves. Here he developed first hand experience in the acquisition, and production of natural gas. |
